Bennett Gap
Bennett Gap of Brevard, NC
After a grunt of a climb you'll find a trail that snakes along the top of a knife-like ridge with cliff-top views of Looking Glass Rock and Clawhammer Mountain. Short sections are so technical. (Season: Open October 15 to April 15)
Bennett Gap is a trail that for a time each year is legal for mountian bikers to ride.

I've not descended on this trail yet, so my review focuses on climbing. This is a wonderful trail overall with mostly reasonable climbing sections. There's one really steep section starting 1.7 miles in which lasts ~ 0.5 miles. I am personally not able to climb it yet, but it seems doable by better riders. There are many great technical sections and tricky areas. The views are fabulous along the upper regions of the area.
During the legal season where you can ride Bennett Gap (Oct 15-Apr 15), I recommend this loop: Go up Avery Creek, down Club Gap, up FS477 and down Bennett Gap.
