WhiteWater Falls WhiteWater Falls WhiteWater Falls in NCWhiteWater Falls, or technically Upper WhiteWater Falls, is a waterfall in North Carolina on the Whitewater River. At 411 feet, it is not only the highest waterfall in the state, but is also asserted to be the highest falls east of the Rocky Mountains. It is protected by the Nantahala National Forest. Most of the waterfall is of the tumbling or cascading nature, but it is sufficiently treacherous that Hiking in the area is strongly discouraged by park rangers. As with most if not all of North Carolina's waterfalls, it is in the mountainous area of the state. There is a cluster of falls in the area where the borders of Georgia and the Carolinas come together. WhiteWater Falls is part of that group, very close to the South Carolina border. The Lower WhiteWater Falls is in South Carolina.
